I am trying to change my rear cassette but it just wont come off. Is there a trick that will help or just go for the BFH?

Are you saying your cassette is stuck on the hub driveshell? Those aluminum slots can get deformed sometimes. I don't know of a trick to get it loose other then brute force.

Assuming you have the lock ring removed...

Try taking the smallest cog off alone. Use a flat screwdriver and gently pop it off. Do the same for each of the following cogs. In some cases some of the cogs will be riveted or screwed together. Those will have to come off together.

Once you have all of them off you can and should fill down the burs on the cass body if there are indeed some causing the hangup.

Good luck

I can get the first 3 off. The rest that come off as 1 wont move at all. I will get it tonight.

If the rest are togther as one there is still hope.

If you take a hacksaw and cut the 3 rivets out it will come apart.

You will kill one spacer but they are out there as replacement

Use a rubber hammer and a pipe to hit it off. Hub came with it:(.. Once I got the hub out I cleaned and rebuilt the hub. Found the bur that was holding every thing up and filled it off. New cassette is on and works great.:D
