for those of you with a bash guard. if you shift down(accidentally) to what would now be where the bash guard is, will the chain pop off? i know it sounds like a rediculous question but im just curious. thanks ahead of time.

nope - you probably won't even be able to shift to that larger chainring at all. play with your limit screws.

I only have a bash guard on my SS.

Yeah your limit screw, if adjust properly, would prevent you from accidentally shifting.
