Pyramid Mountain Natural Historic Area is located in the Morris County, New Jersey communities of Montville Township and Kinnelon Borough.
This 1,544 acre park includes unusual glacial erratics, deposited by the Wisconsin Glacier over 18,000 years ago.
Two of the most significant glacial erratics are Tripod Rock, a 180-ton boulder balanced on three smaller boulders and Bear Rock,
one of New Jersey's largest glacial erratics

This is basically my backyard. If the main lot on boonton ave is crowded, which it was today, access from Powerville Road at the Kincaid Woods trailhead is another option. A little longer to get to the “destination rocks” but a great 3-4 mile loop on that side of the mountain.
