hey all-

i just started with a mobile payments company called Tabbedout. www.tabbedout.com. when you download our iOS or android app ('cause Luke ain't got no stinkin' iPhone!) you can open, view and pay your tab from you phone. gone is the need to bring a credit card to the bar and stumble out at night and forget it. it's completely secure and even has PayPal integration.

we're looking to expand into new markets but right now we've got most of our distribution in Texas. We do have a couple of locations in Hoboken but it's thin. very. we also have TGI Friday's under their app.

so, if you own a bar, know people that own bars or are simply a bad load that frequents lots of bars and know all the people in them (owners, etc), post up. for sake of ease, i'm looking for NJ/NYC but other close areas will be considered.

the types of locations i'm looking for are high volume and have younger crowds...think Morristown, Hoboken, sports bars, etc.

if you've got what we're looking for there may be an opportunity for you to earn some extra cash.

thanks!

I came up with this idea 10 years ago. I'm suing. I've talked about this 100 times and really should have apple PatentStorm'ed it.
You should hire me as a usability engineer. I have ideas.

My brother works part time at Crossroads in Garwood, they try and keep things hip until they get angry letters from PETA for hosting goldfish racing. Maybe he can help you talk to the owner.

Oh crap you are missing my key component to your app. I'll sell you my idea that will make this a game changer for bill paying.

it's probably already in dev luke. we've got 15 products in beta right now that we're waiting to release as necessary.

oh- and the founder had this idea ten years ago too (he was already running and in the process of selling his first company to Symantec) but smart phones simply weren't in enough hands at that point.

Why couldn't this have been around when i used to work in my fathers gas station at age 12? I used to have to slide a masonry brick back and forth over magic paper when someone handed me a card to pay for gas.

Whats the problem with leaving the card at a bar or restaurant? You're not liable for fraudulent charges and you just go pick it up the next day, or call the company and they send you a new card.

well, now you don't have to worry about going back the next day. or waiting 25 minutes to get the bartenders attention to close your tab when you want to leave with that lovely young lady. or wonder if some scumbag is on their way to costa rica or buying a hummer using your identity.

or did you mean other than that?

wait- you have a blackberry, don't you? 😀

I don"t get how the pay with cash thing works over the phone please explain, btw I know someone in sales out of work I'll mention it to him.

If the bartender ignores me I leave and they get no tip, simple as that. I see it as a way to save money. The night my wife and I met in morristown I left my card at the grasshopper and we were out. Its very hard to get away with fraud these days. A few months ago I had 6 grand charged on my Amex, called them and they took it off no problem.

You are spot on, Blackberry's are the best for me and I will have one until the company goes out of business. I had a droid razr maxx for a week and hated it, returned it for a blackberry. those touchscreens take forever to do anything and I wanted to smash the phone. I'm surprised so many people put up with the inefficiencies.

Jake, I know a few bar owners but I'm pretty sure the clientele don't use credit cards 😀

On a side note, best of luck to you.

hey i'm just trying to help people out. if they have the connections we need, they could make some money.

the mobile payments industry is exploding. like it or not, cash's time is limited (not the johnny kind) and credit cards aren't that far behind. too many new technologies in the pipeline.

yeah, we haven't made an app for 'funny money' yet wall-e. 😀

Absolutely, I'm sure there's a market for it, I'm just a cheap pain in the ass . I wouldn't limit yourself to bars. I'm not sure how I would pay for something by phone, just make sure you have a blackberry adapter for when I'm the only person left with one. The problem is credit cards are so simple as it is but if the phone can add value somehow that's great.

You can already make secure transactions with Android phones with the nfc chip, ala Google wallet. Jake would be making a nice way of implementing this with food and beverage point of sales. I still think he should listen to my idea on this though. I can make it awesomeness
