PON putting GT brand on pause!!

I’ve spoken to those near the top. There are no future purchase orders in the system for GT bikes.

I’ve been selling their bikes on and off since the early 90s. Sad to see them go.
I remember meeting you way back in the 90s when Halter's sold GT bikes. Remember that coworker of mine who bought an iDrive? Damn... that was over 25 years ago...

I just watched a video yesterday about specialized heading in very wrong direction. Covid inventory and new corporate building plus poor management choices plunging a dagger into the brand. Merida has some decisions to make.

it’s pretty bleak out there. As usual I’ll take this chance to say that I’m working hard for every sale we make. I’m using the long standing relationships we have made over the years to find people the best bike for the. At the best deal we can swing.

How ironic that this popped up on my Facebook memories. Three years ago to the day that I bought my Force from you.

Managers have never ridden a bicycle.

^ This adjusted statement is universal; and in my opinion, the single greatest threat to the global economy. There you have it… my once a decade serious / divisive statement.

It’s amazing how companies will fill slots with any warm body in the name of short term profit and no consideration for the long game . In HS and college I worked for a small private chain of auto parts stores and the owner sold it to Advance Auto in 2003. They hired the new store manager from Walgreens.

That didn’t work out so well when somebody came in looking for a rear main seal for a small block Chevy, or when they needed a replacement bearing based on the numbers from the old one that they brought with them. I think I lasted about three months before I got fed up and quit. It was pretty stressful being the only person who knew WTF the customers wanted.

It’s easy to see how poorly a similar situation would translate in the bike industry.

This is exactly our scenario. 3 CEOs from outside of the Industry in 3 years. Each one losing the company millions in sales while taking millions in bonus and sign-on money.

GT bikes remind me of racing BMX when I was a kid. I still think of them more for their 20-inch bikes than any mountain bike they ever made. The GT Pro Performer was super iconic to me.

Since I started mountain biking, I’ve never even thought about a GT. Their bikes seem more focused on value and not as innovative as other brands.
