i was on a solo road ride the other day and coming the opposite way were two of these stunt rider tween-agers ripping wheelies in the middle of the road. it seems weaving towards oncoming traffic and people is a thing and the one kid crossed the double yellow and aimed towards me.

I yelled at him dont be a dick at which point he swerved back to his side of the road. I slowed down as if I was going to turn around, and if I didnt have to get back home for a meeting I would have turned around to "politely" explain why that behavior is dangerous, but then realized that would not have any effect and I might end up in jail since what I really wanted to do was knock them off their bikes to teach them a lesson.

The sad part is if they did collide with me or cause me to crash, there would be zero consequences for them but many for me. Neither of them were wearing helmets of course.

sorry rant over.

I live in Barrington, which borders Haddonfield. I've spent a bit of time riding and driving thru town. I'll mention 2 things. Never saw any kids weaving, but have seen large groups leave their bikes laying around on the sidewalks in front of a few business on Kings Highway, which is basically Main St. The people who step into traffic without looking are a bigger nuisance. And the town has an entitled attitude about itself based on household income. The parents DGAF about the kids getting their bikes impounded

I saw this first thing and thought it was funny journalism.

And they even credited Getty Images and the name was "Generic Sport Image. Mountain biking." for the tag of the image.

I assume they typed in "biking" and sort by price when selecting the image.

RE: the image

news outlets have subscriptions to sites like Getty for generic images like that. Consequences can be very costly for just randomly googling and using someone's image without permission. my friend does this for a living... and, if you're wondering, Gene Simmons is an asshole with this. $$$$$$$$

I always high five the weavers.
We have a wheelie gang in Yardley, which is freaking hilarious. There are 2-4 of them that you see often and maybe up to 15 more. It is hilarious to see the suburban mom's posting on social media about how they are dangerous and a nuisance to the community. I have witnessed them playing chicken (weaving) with the cars on main street. While it is very stupid, it is also just kids doing kid things.

Now if you really want to infuriate the suburban people, try riding a skateboard around.

Moms don't want them weaving, playing video games, or shooting up their school. Gotta pick one.

I had a jolly good nostalgic laugh reading this article, my wife sent it to me yesterday.

Haddonfield was the next town over from where I grew up, had BMX friends there. This was us in the ‘80’s and we would make regular dashes through the Haddonfield Mall too. So glad to see kids out riding their bikes!

Ha! Same, Clover hills or Paul VI woods we called it. We’d meet up/ hang out at Westmont Plaza. I grew up a couple blocks away from there. Rode those hills from the early ‘80’s until maybe 1989.

We probably saw each other at some point or at least know some of the same people. BMX riders from Audubon, Oaklyn, Collingswold, Haddonfield, Twp., and Heights.

Probably. I grew up in H.H. Bought my first Mongoose at Matson's Schwinn in Oaklyn. Raced BMX at the Dust Bowl in Deptford from '83 to '86. Ride through the Clover Hills at least once a week, now called Saddler's Woods. It always seemed so much bigger. Still some features being maintained in there.
