Paved Paths + Hard Pack Paths

FFT

Gay & Stuffy
Ok, so Ms. FFT has finally begun to log some miles on the bike. Heres the catch - She prefers paved paths and hard pack paths over the sandy overergrown tick infested local park. I wonder why??

This is a multi-part thread that I hope goes in the wrong direction and people get banned as a result. So here goes.

Where can we find these trails that compare to the Manasquan bike path and the Manasquan resovior?

And....Should this type of trail/destination have its own little spot in the trail directory. I assume I may not be the only person who would like this sort of info.

And....I really want to have a "Roast" thread to weed out the rest of the members who have thin skin.

Good for you that Mrs FFT is out riding with you

Henry Hudson trail. Multiple spots to start and different sections. The one in freehold is nice as you can pick it up in Big Brook Park and they have a potty box there.

Thompson Park in Lincroft has a paved 5 mile loop. And a few trails that are pretty tame (as long as you dont take that wrong left turn!)

Columbia trail
Paulinskill Trail

We utilize these types of trails often, usually when it is raining and in the winter.

Sandy Hook has a paved trail. You could also park over the bridge and pick up the Henry Hudson Trail, then ride over the bridge to Sandy Hook to add some more mileage. I did this once and I parked at a Marina in Atlantic Highlands, the HH trail is right there. However, I am not sure what condition everything is in from Sandy.

FFT,
As part of the multi-point thread you could also ask why Monmouth County has more and better trials and paths than Ocean County.

I second the Henry Hudson Trail in Freehold. And the Delaware Canal Path is worth the drive. Stop in Lambertville for lunch.

If you want to get in a quick ride near home don't forget Ocean County Park. Some of the ride will be on paved roads with little traffic. I think we got in a 5 mile loop between the roads and the path. If there are soccer games going on you will get to practice your pedestrian avoidance maneuvers.

There is also the Sawmill Bike Path in Brick. A cinder & dirt path in a T shape of about 3 miles. It is underutilized. The path is wide, so even with the current neglect there is enough room to get away from the trees. I've noticed some little bootleg trails but I can't say where they lead to. This is nice ride in the woods and you can visit Haven's Homestead Museum on Herbertsville Rd. if it's open. There are a couple of hills but most of the riding is on level ground. Park at the Haven's Homestead on Herbertsville Rd., Brick Memorial High School (way in back and to the left), or on Burnt Tavern Road.

Thank you 😀

Anytime you wanna do a Mr and Mrs FFT ride with Mr and Mrs AM, shoot me a pm. Bet I can get her on trails with you pretty quick 😉

D and r from along the Delaware river From Trenton north past bulls island Or the stretch from New Brunswick through Princeton. You can log serious miles, 77 mile end to end, also the canal from morrisville pa to new hope And north is good too

Union transportation trail in cream ridge, maybe 12 miles out and back

+1 on the D&R. We generally park at Washingtons Crossing and ride to Bulls Island. Stop in Lambertville or New Hope for Lunch. We prefer to ride the NJ side..We try to do this twice a year at Pats request. A nice day out.

PS I had to hike-a-bike over the Old Mill bridge while it was under construction. That was hairy - the only path was a concrete shoulder about 10 inches wide
