My ask a bike mechanic question,

I noticed today on some fat bikes the Race Face offset gear was mounted like how yours was pointed, in the "poor chainline" direction. Any thought on this? Is it purely for possible additional clearance of super-wide tires?

They do it for clearance but it's not necessary. I run my 34t the correct way with no issues.

I don't have any extra tires, I do have 3 pairs of Cranks. The Next SLs, a pair of Fat Turbines, and a pair of stock Suntour Fatboy Cranks.
