hey,im mike from readington, new to mtbiking and looking for thoughts on the best places to ride nearby, thanks in advance....
Hi Mike
Welcome to the community.
The best parks for new riders by you are:
- 6 mile run (this park is very sensitive to heavy rains like this past weekend so will be muddy for a few days. Riding in mud is terrible for the trails and causes premature aging to you bike)
- Nassau Park (near the Colombia trail, is a little more hilly than 6mr but dries faster). Post up if you are looking to ride and sure someone here will be willing to give you a tour.

Welcome @longhittinlama
Great community here.... Nassau Trail is great... If you're "new new" to mountain biking, also check out the Columbia Trail to just get some miles in the saddle....

Hi Mike -

Nassau is great.

If you like exploring....
there are some field-side, and dirt paths in the woods along pleasant run road - if you are local to that area.
One parking spot is under the powerlines on hillcrest.

Round mountain/stickney farm (not round valley) into deer path park are fun (you will need to find the "fun" ones, some are more challenging
from a fitness perspective, but smooth surface)

There are trails out of the back of pickell park - they go to the powerlines, and around to cushetunk mt preserve.
you can play in "Cush" a bit - could be frustrating at first, but good place to learn along the lower trails.

Be sure to yield to any equestrian activity back there. Stop, get off the bike, and say hello. They live along those paths,
so need to be neighborly. don't sneak up behind them - not good for your health ;)

Bring a camera, water, bug spray.
Enjoy the ride!

hows chimney rock and how long will it be before its dry

It is a fun park, which is a step up from Nassau - more climbs, some rocks, some features.

When will it dry?
i'm sure there is a good meme using cows or skeletor...it is in tough shape, tonight's downpour didn't help.
