Hi all I hate my grips that i have on my bike any thought about what i should look for in new grips? also would like to put on some bar ends, have not seen any like on the shelves at diffrent shops i have stoped at. do shops carry only low end bar ends and have to order nice ones?:hmmm:

You are going to hear a lot of different things from everyone. It really is all a matter of opinion and what works best for that particular person.

With that being said. I really like ergon gx2 carbon. It is nice and comfy but not to soft and the bar ends are great. The grips allow for mulitple hand positions for added comfort.

They have other models as well.

many (most?) real bike shops carry ergon grips.

I have the ones in the link. bar ends integrated with grip. I like them on extended climbs. they also allow for alternative hand positions which helps with hand fatigue (i.e., hand numbness)

keep in mind - the ergons are different than other grips in that they have ergonomic design (not just round like the bars). by spreading out the surface area it relieves pressure on the ulner nerve (again, hand numbness). some love them (like me), others dont (saying the ergon design hinders their control on technical downhills...which I can understand...but I dont bomb downhill so its not a concern of mine)

my bar ends are stubby, I dont see need for longer ones. but they do offer models with larger ends.

there are also ergon knockoffs out there which I cant speak to.

Has anyone tried the GA1's or the GE1's? I've been thinking about bigger grips since my hands recently got shredded from riding at Sourlands (with gloves, mind you.) Are the GA1 or GE1's any larger or better fitting in a large hand with skinny long fingers.

I have these, the grips are cushy but still offer good control and love the stumpy bar ends just enough to grab but subtle:

I have tried the Ergons and I had moved them relentlessly trying to find the sweet spot. I adjusted them hundreds of times but was never able to get them to the point where my hands would not fall asleep. I am a huge fan of the Lizard Skins Peaty Lock-on Grips.

As for bar ends, I was never a big fan. I have a nice set of riser bars and it kind of eliminates the need for bar ends.

I am one of those people who hated ergons. ESI chunky love with pretty colors. It's a personal thing. I also tried B-ends with no avail. alternative bars work much better for me...

Wait, how many times has this topic been discussed. Cant you use the search function?

Campmor, Bike N Gear, Efingers, Planet Bike, etc all have grips and grips w/bar ends...........

This is a community and a discussion board. Its aim is generate discussion and provide help. Most questions have already been answered somewhere, but if everyone just searched we would have nothing to talk about. Take that condescending search crap elsewhere 🙄

Sven, welcome to the board and feel free to ask what you'd like, we're happy to help. Grips/bar ends are really a preference item. Its a good idea to try some out if you have the chance, either check out what your buddies are using or what your local shop has. If that isn't an option, there are lots of cheap bar ends/grips available to test a style out (pricepoint's Sette line comes to mind), and if you like the style you can always splurge for a higher end/better quality setup.

Personally I like plain round foam grips, they offer good grip and a bit of shock absorbtion. They are also really cheap which is a plus.

What's with the anger? The guy just asked a question. Ask away and don't let the angry guy get to you.
