Need Help: 9spd road cass + x9short?

I tried everything I could to dial the der. I can only get 7/9 gears, either on the high or low. I've tried every combination for the limit screws and still no luck.

The set up is on my DH bike w/ a 40 tooth ring up front. The new chain was a bit short, by about 4 links, I dont think thats the problem. This isnt my first rodeo, but I am definatly stumped. Please help!!

Does this bike by any chance have a 150mm spaced rear? Or is it standard QR 135 mm spacing?

I'm gonna ask something that may be obvious...Do you have an X9 shifter as well?
