Most guys think that when the "boys" start to hurt that the saddle's nose is too far up and start lowering it. That makes the your hips roll forward and exerts even more pressure where you don't want it and transfers more weight to your hands/wrists/shoulders. When riding in the saddle on level ground, you should be able to exit a series of bumps(washboard) in the same place on the saddle that you entered it. If you're sliding forward or aft, you should try an adjustment. If you're constantly having to force yourself forward or aft while you're riding, try an adjustment. I also ride motocross/off-road and alot of guys have had problems with numbness. Death grip, grip size and design, and carpal tunnel are common problems. Personally, I had a problem with circulation, the main arteries that supply the arms go under the armpit and can be constricted by overworked pectorals and muscles in that area. Now I force myself to stand/sit, switch up position, and relax my upper body and relax my grip everywhere possible. I also do some stretches specific to that area. If you often catch yourself with your neck all scrunched up and shoulders tensed and stiff while you ride, you're asking for problems. Relax, ride smarter, only use enough rider input to control the bike. Smooth is good in all these sports.
