Then afternoon ride.
Followed this turkey down the path for a bit. Always amazes me how long it takes animals to realize they are not restricted to the path.

Sat by the lake for a little, and just let my mind wander.

Was just thinking how great this whole pause is for the environment.
I kinda like to think it’s nature’s way of putting us in time out for a bit so it can regroup.

and I write my own snaps

Obviously, this sucks for everyone, but I am really proud of my kids, there are handling it like champs. The family is closer than ever. And we have been eating like Kings.
No disrespect to anyone going thru hard times/situations. I feel for you.

Had some large tree trunks that needed to be split for like 4 years. Probably not good for indoor burning, but will be just right for the outdoor fireplace.

Got Suzuki and Mrs Oleg out for a couple of hours before dinner. It is always fun to cruise around and get lost on the back roads.

Our once a week alcohol. Honey & lime are good for you, right? Made quarantini for my wife with vitamin C rim and whiskey sour for me. When it's the end of the world as we know it you make quarantini with organic boutique Russian vodka and whiskey sour with single malt! LIKE A BOSS!

I have been busy as hell this week, been trying to get something together.

Today was bob's 6th birthday....all day yesterday he told me how he wants to ride today....however his mom let him play with the tablet which switched him out of "I want to ride mode"....so...

@The Governor of Slacktown this is how bob acts about 80% of the time I ask him if he wants to ride....I just dont listen to anything he says :)

Because 20min later...

Sadly his bday party was canceled, but whatever, he got to eat all the cake and pizza himself. His mom made him a Pokemon ball cake.

I was planning to hit Wildcat today but got busy with work and decided to stay closer. Dickerson Mine was bumpin. I hardly ever see more than one or two riders there. Trails were absolutely mint tho.

ok - some unsolicited parenting advice. You are trying to get buy-in, or decisions from a 6yo. (prev 5) while he is doing something else.
ain't going to happen.

get stuff in car, get kid in car, start driving, then ask where he wants to go. will make a great conversation.
you can then accomplish the buy-in part.

if you start asking while doing something else, you need to accept that he wants to do something else.
Did you ask if we can play on the swingset then go for a ride? since he seemed focused there?

One other thing i always liked to do when we got somewhere is to ask if he'd like to lead.
And what he remembered.

He's too young to think about time, but when a little older, start asking if there is enough time to do
a trail before the need to be home for dinner/mom/dark...

nice job on the b'day! tell him his mtb friends wished him a good one!

We also went for a bike ride hence the helmet.

I had to go the ShopRite pharmacy, first time driving 2 time driving in 3 weeks. My son was almost out of Albuterol after being sick so I really didn't want to be caught without it.

Haha my girl loves rocks too. And has the same helmet.

We snuck out for a walk before lunch today. It's been a grind this week. Mom is still at work and we're both home, with me trying to work. But I know I'm mostly preaching to the choir. Trying to make the best of it, and seizing the little opportunities while I can.

Quick pause next to the daisies before walk time.

Beautiful day for a ride but it was windy early so I just hung around and helped the wife with stuff she wanted to do like visit her dads gravesite and set up some flowers. Coming up on 2 years she’s feeling a bit sad again ?. Me too.

Dropped the idea with the 17 and 13 year old we should go for a family bike ride but they had some stupid stuff to do like online homework.

Got some like new road tires from a good friend and installed them figuring I would ride later in the afternoon. Nearly ripped all my fingernails off and broke my wrists trying to install them but now there on. GP4000IIS never remember them fitting so tight.

Went and scoped out some free rocks for @MadisonDan with details how to find them

4:30 rolls around and just as I announce I am heading out for 2 hour road ride, 17 year old says hey dad let’s go to Columbia trail. 13 year old says nah I will just ride the local streets.

Set up bike rack load 2 bikes. Drive over to CT. Unload. Now it’s 5pm. Trail is a zoo.

Got cursed out by some 74 year old lady who decided we were riding too close while she walked her bike the opposite direction. Turns out she was cursing out everyone that was to close because of the 6 foot tile. I gave her some of my opinion how I felt. She didn’t agree.

Best part was just cruising with 17 year old he is still my riding buddy from when he was like 12 even if he can’t ride that far or fast. 7 miles of laughs with that crazy lady. But he Hates pictures.

I suck at taking pictures on rides and in general. Huber is fun, but it isn't really a photo spot. The 1 pic opportunity I had, I was too late. Some cool looking mtbnj team racer on a red SC with dope glasses and I crossed paths and I coulda taken a pic of him riding danger close to a horses ass (literally, there were two horses we were dealing with). Anybody know who that cat is? I forgot to introduce myself.

Here's a pic from dinner.

My daughter an I have been scoring record outside time lately. This allows my wife to work at home talking to clients. She’s a psychotherapist and her business is about to go nuts I think

I’ve given up on trail work at 6mr fo the time being and plan on spending as much time with my family as possible. It’s been great so far.
