You’re making very hard not to plan and move to Arizona! Always beautiful pictures and cool stories!
Maybe try a Lumbar Camlebak to put less stress on your neck. I have not tried one but some folks swear by that design. Cool photos!Sorry but I have no pictures for you today. My neck went to shit for a few days and I am just starting to get back to being able to do simple stuff like cook, get dressed and turn my head enough to drive or go for a walk. I got back on my bike today for the first time in a week and it was ok. I rode over to Sterling and climbed up to the top of section D and came back down. That was it. If I am still ok tomorrow, I will try a few more rides under 1.5 hours and maybe lose the hydration pack and take a bottle as wearing the pack does seem to be worse than actually riding. Either way I am pretty happy to be on the mend and getting about.
I saw 2 fawn across the pond and a baltimore oriole the other day. The wood duck families and the green heron have been around as well. So pond activity has been active. As far as the Bighorn fire in Tucson, it is now more than 30,000 acres and still only a few miles from our house. However, winds are keeping it up by Mt Lemmon and the 800 firefighters are working ahead of it doing back burns and fire walls to steer it around homes up there. It sounds like if unusual winds steer it towards our neighborhood, they will lay a retardant line by air. With Saddlebrooke development and Miraval resort just beyond our place, they are on call and watching. Working where they need to at the moment. Our neighbors said the smoke is really bad, even when they are inside their house. Praying for early monsoon!
Well, I used Art's lumbar pack today and it was a bit easier on my neck. I may pick one up for when my neck flares up.Maybe try a Lumbar Camlebak to put less stress on your neck. I have not tried one but some folks swear by that design. Cool photos!
I have had a bunch of distractions, so no great pictures or stories these days. However, today Art and I broke ground on our next trail project. Dirty Thursday will still be happening over at the school and six bridges trail with Tom and James every week, weather permitting, until that is complete. Thanks to all that been helping out!
Art and I will probably just work a few mornings a week on our next series of projects on the race course trail. We have been revisiting some of the 20-25 year old RVCC built trails that were built before sustainable trail building knowledge and prioritizing some repairs and re-routes that may improve trail experiences and help support future access, maintenance and partnerships. As many may already know, Ringwood does not allow new trails unless there is some important reason the park thinks a new trail would be needed. We have been urged to fix what is there before asking for more.
So for the past 10 years we have been repairing and rerouting old trails. Major re-routes need full proposals and approvals but minor reroutes are usually ok. Our next string of fix ups are a mix of both and some will need proposals, so some are not approved yet. We have some great ideas, and hope they can happen in a few years. In the mean time, you may notice some changes.
