Hello friends! My name is Nick, I made a new FB yesterday to use Marketplace, and I'm here to ask for help with what I should do with this mountain bike. It was given to me as a gift to help me get around. I popped my back tire, and as it turns out I would have to replace both tires, as they're dry-rotted, if I wanted to get the bike in working shape again. I would rather put that money into a car, as well as use any money from selling this bike as well. With that being said-

This is a Mongoose DX 10.7 Titanium Mountain Bike. I've never felt a lighter bike in my whole life. Also had a lot of fun riding.

I read in bike forums about this bike- that "all your friends will make fun of you for riding a mongoose, but it's one of the best bikes you'll ever have."

-Titanium Frame for cross country/ racing performance
-Sandik Custom Drawn 3AL/2.5V Titanium frame with bi-ovalized downtube, bullet stays and 6AL/4V dropouts
-True Technologies made in the USA
-Shimano 27 speed LX/XT/XTR drivetrain
-TITEC stem, handlebar, seatpost
-Mavic Crossride wheelset
-Manitou Mars suspension fork
-CaneCreek C2 headset
-Chainrings 44/32/22
-Mavic Crossride Rims and Hubs
-Time ATEC AI Pedals
-AVID Arival 50 Brakeset
-Seatpost - 27.2
-XC Pro Rear Shock Absorber

Includes a Bell Airstrike 550 pump attached to the frame

(You can see from the pictures that the back tire is popped)

Those are some of the specs of the bike, and I was told that the guy who put it together spent a lot of money putting it together. It has some small extras on top of it too.

My question to you guys-
1) How much is this bike worth? Ballpark?
2) Am I better off parting it, or selling it as is?

This bike is for sale. Whatever it's worth, I'm going to give someone an INCREDIBLE deal on it, I'd like to get rid of it as fast as possible. If you'd like to make me an offer, by all means! I am located in Northern NJ.

Thank you guys for the help, I appreciate it a lot!

Seemed real enough to me when I checked the IP. Otoh,. Sterling might have been a good choice living in Mahwah.

I sent my buddy this post. Dude has a huge collection and I will know the value for sure

I believe these Mongoose frames are made by TST, a titanium fabricator for many bike companies back in the day. Sandvik (misspelled above) makes good tubing, but have heard they had also subcontracted to Russia which supplied inferior Ti tubing. Imo an average massed produced frame for Ti, like early aluminum frames glued together, neat to look at but not pleasant to ride. Steel frames from this generation like Fat Chance and Mountain Goat are so much more collectible. Still looking for one of these: https://www.theproscloset.com/blogs/news/from-the-vault-1988-mountain-goat-dinoflage-deluxe

Question to those in the know about Mongoose history. I wasn't a BMX kid but remember lots around in the 80s. Wiki mentions the brand being sold many times and now with Pon Corp (Dorel/Pacific). But I recall reading some time back about the Mongoose Pro badge that it wasn't owned by whomever bought Mongoose. Or maybe just a high end arm to the brand when it still had a real R&D department, don't know. But I don't think they made any of these high end versions in house.
