Minimal Tire Studding

I have a set of Johnny 5 tires I would like to minimally stud. Since these tires have a huge footprint at snow pressures and the times I've needed studs I was well aware of the ice and rolling slowly, I really like the ideal of saving weight from fewer studs.

Do either of the below patterns make sense - Red vs. Green? Or possibly Red on the front tire and Green on the rear tire?

Here is the Terrene factory studding.

I was going through the depths of my basement this weekend and came across a pair of 29" studded tires. They're yours if you want them.

Tried to order 2 Dillinger 5 studded tire, once I placed the order they were unavailable. Bummer, they were 'only' $116...on the other hand, I would have broken snowing for good...
I threw two studded D5’s in my cart (along with WC’s) to check availability. The D5’s bounced, but were available again yesterday(?). I need the WC for bad conditions - they arrive today!

They have hundreds of them in stock at QBP so that's why they're on sale. Anyone can order them.

Modern Bike has the Dillinger 5 Studded 120TPI for $175, other places are full price.

Tried again REi but they do not have stock nor they can be back ordered, hence I foresee Ringwood to turn into a frozen forest in the next couple of weeks until end of April 2024...

I installed the studded Wrathchildren today - super easy and uneventful. Took a very short loop around the property including ~600ft of pavement. These tires do not lack for traction (or noise)!

What is the collective thought on break-in? Do I really need to ride pavement to set the studs?
