MASS Granogue Rewind XC/Endurance

Final race of the Mid Atlantic Super Series is this Saturday at the race day only trails of Granogue. If you were there in July, most of the course runs the opposite direction, exception being the technical section of Weymouth Woods and The Gulch. It also happens to be the series awards for the MASS series.

With the passing of Mr. DuPont and Longwood Gardens taking over operation of the property, it could be the last race there. I hope not as I feel this is the best all around MTB race course in the area. The promoter is more than capable of keeping things going at this location.

Pre-reg closes on Thursday, 8/31 at midnight. Day of on site is available for an additional $10.

I'll be there. My daughter is signed up and definitely racing, I might race.

I've never ridden these trails. My bike choices if I race are Salsa Pony Rustler with 2.6" tires, or Ragley Marley with 2.6/2.8" tires. Neither bike exactly screams XC Machine, but knowing these trails which is the better choice?

There is no right or wrong bike for this trail. It has a little of everything: climbs, rocks, rocky climbs, roots, flowy ST. FWIW, over the years I've ridden every type of bike there. 140mm trail bike, 100mm XC HT, 100mm XC FS, 130mm trail bike and rigid SS. I'll be riding the rigid SS for 4hrs tomorrow.

The only wrong choice is not riding a bike tomorrow. But I'm a fan of lesser bike on this course. It's by no means easy, but my kids have raced it on 24" hardtails....

Thanks guys. I wanted to ride a 29er hardtail, but I contaminated the pads (bleed gone wrong) and am too tired to deal with it tonight, but I really do want to ride these trails and thinking this could be the last shot.

My daughter raced in July, and despite feeling like she was melting in the hot temps, she said I would love the trails.

It was brutally hot when we raced in July! I'm hoping for a much better day today 😅. We'll be under the red/black Trek tent and there all day. Wife and I racing cat 1, son (JT) cat 2, and daughter (Grace) cat 3.

Yeah nice chatting with you, and congrats!! I didnt realize you won your class, with a really impressive time too!

Awesome day. The weather, the trails and the vibe. Great way to end the MASS race season.
Really was. Great trails and perfect weather.

I was overbiked but had a blast regardless. My daughter caught a hell of a nose bleed on lap 2 and decided to just pedal theough it. The amount of blood on her and the bike by the end was alarming.

She didnt even wash this thing before going for a recovery ride today 🫤. Almost looks like a flame paint job 🤣
