weather permitting and as long as mahlon is open (heard a rumor it was) i plan to ride mahlon this sat dec 22nd with a wheels down of about 1030am. I am planning to just play the ride by ear and probably take it at a casual pace. This will be the first Trail ride on the new bike so i cant judge speed or performance lol. I have all day so plan for 2+ hour ride, if anyone would like to join and not take things to seriously you are welcome to join me. I just need to get out ride and have some fun. If for some reason mahlon is not open or conditions suck i may venture to get lost in allamuchy deer park or stephens.

to sum it up.....
Mahlon Dickerson Sat Dec 22nd
Safron Pond Lot on Weldon Rd
Wheels down 10:30am

I have a black Saturn Ion and Green MTB you cant miss 😎

You should be ok at Mahlon, it appears open, just be ready to get off the bike a bit for downed trees. Not many have been cleared. Stone Gate trail is in good shape. Conditions otherwise should be excellent.

sweet i like the sound of that, i dont mind getting off the bike for downed trees.
I might be up for this, will touch base tomorrow.
no problem, i am flexable on start time if needed to adjust a bit pending on who decides to join.

i rode and ran there twice this week.. youre going to have to go over/under maybe a dozen trees if you plan on doing a solid loop there there has been a good effort to clear the fallen trees..but some seem like they were just too big for whoever was doing the work.

hmm i am forgetting the colors but was more or less thinking going all the way down rail trail make a right fallow that down and around left over stream past cascade (will ride cascade if its clear)i believe that is fallowing highlands to exit near the picnic area/ ballfield go accross road and more or less fallow yellow all the way to back side of damn. keep terrain simple and get some miles in. was contemplating finding some of the single track but i suck at it so dont want to make people suffer lol

Yeah, the rail trail had trees down on your first stretch, nothing you can't get around. Bang a right onto the Pine Swamp trail and follow that, you should be ok. Cascade will require a lot of tree hopping and sidetracking. Heading towards The Wall, you will be fine until the very bottom of The Wall there are a few trees down. On Yellow towards Stone Gate, a couple trees, no big problem though, then Stone Gate is perfect, and Rail Trail back to lot is perfect.

Since my road bike and cx bike are in the shop, I may join you guys. I likely won't make it to the parking lot at 10:30, since a) my son has soccer practice until 10:00 and b) i will be riding in from my house, but hopefully I will intersect with you guys on the rail trail coming from the parking lot. If not, I either will a) try to catch up to you guys or b) decided to bail because the weather sucks or c) decided to bail because I am inherently lazy. Lists are fun when its not my wife telling me to do things.

So, in summary, maybe.

I am much closer to 95% in, timing will be tight but I will just get all packed up before hand so all I will need to do is get dressed after soccer.

cool cool, im sure since its a small group and im not sure on whos actually confirmed we could stall a bit if no one objects.

I'd suggest dressing before soccer as well. Wish I could make this one, enjoy!

nah, low is supposed to be 25 tonight, so I will be way too warm and would rather not walk around with a chammy, I will just get dressed quick when I get home.
