M8000 left crankarm with M8100 crankset, make it work.

Pearl

THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING
Does shimano make longer preload fixing bolts? I have a 4iii powermeter and want to use it with the m8100. i know they say it doesnt work, but damn its so damn close to working. wtf shimano!?

These two? They're M6x21, shouldn't be too difficult to source in slightly longer length...bit sure if those are what you meant though.

They make a deeper preload bolt. It’s used in one of the road cranks, I can’t be bothered to remember, but one of them.

It looks like the road cranks are deeper, of course that’s the only crankset I don’t have in a bin somewhere

This might be too much gap to thread tho

You don't have nearly enough crank overhanging the spindle for that to be safe.

Just send your 8100 arm in to someone to have a powermeter installed.

Can confirm. What happens when it's not installed properly:

Also the crankarm splines that gets stripped is the one that has the powermeter...

Apparently I can return this crank so I may do that; what’s interesting is the drop stop a chainring is currently quiet with a freshly waxed chain with my 12 speed Shimano chain, even though it says it’s not compatible…

sent this back and copped another wolftooth ring

for your troubles here is a photo of spiderman

Who? Stages used to, but as far as I can tell they are no longer in business (despite the website still being active). I haven't been able to find another vendor who was doing similar powermeter sensor installations.

It would be great if someone buys the powermeter part of the Stages business. From what I've read, that wasn't the part of the business that was in trouble.

4iiii. They do both options where you can buy a crankarm with a power meter or send yours in.

Apparently Pearl already has a 4iiii powermeter from what he said in the first post.

ya, i have a m8000 4iiii (late night ebay lowball offers) and realized my wolftooth dropstop a ring does not work well with shimano hg+ 12 speed, unless i use a freshly waxed chain that is. i assumed the spindle lengths for the cranksets were the same because they never changed, but the left arm is more narrow than it used to be. swapping to a new ring is the easiest option

power is cool but not $500 on my mtb that i already don't ride enough 😉

i do have a 175mm gxp rival stages in a bin thats collecting dust, its been through hell tho
