It would be helpful to add a Lyme Disease Awareness thread.
NJ has the highest reported cases. It would be a good spot to talk about:
Prevention
Products in stores
Resources
Tick Removals

I have talked to riders who don't use any bug spray. You don't want to risk it, or risk bringing one home to the family.

they offered a vaccine about 10 years ago called Lymerix, I got it. It got pulled because people were reporting bad side effects (mostly joint pain). Personally I haven't had any problems and am Lyme Disease free

My brother and I have both had Lyme disease. We were fortunate in that we had the symptoms: bullseye rash, joint pain, fever/headache. Antibiotics got rid of it and it wasn't bad at all. It can get bad if you don't show the symptoms and don't know you have it though. I always wear bug spray and check for ticks as soon as I wash the dirt off myself.
