Hey guys! So i'm a counselor and teacher at Winston Transitions in Manhattan. Transitions is a transitional program for students with learning disabilities who are having a hard time transitioning to what ever is next for them. What's next is usually college, trade school or entering the work force. Our curriculum builds workplace and independent living skills. Our students range in age from 16-23 and have learning disability diagnoses of things like NVLD, Dyslexia, Some have ASD but all of our kids are what one would consider "high functioning" (I hate that term).
So anyway, we are looking to expand our internship program where our students do one or two days (4-190 hours per week) working out in the real world doing anything from office work to kitchen work and we would love a bike shop site at some point! Can you tell I'm pushing bikes on my students? The sky is the limit for our kids! If you're curious about the program and possibly interested in being a host site please hit me up!
