I'm staying at Wind Creek in a few weeks with a group of guys. Most are playing golf, 5 of us are riding Friday and Saturday. I'm in charge of the MTB crew. Could use some advice. The idea is South Mountain Friday (well rested, more tech, bigger day) then Walking Purchase Saturday (lower consequences, a little tired, banged up, hung over). I've never ridden either place...SO...
  • I need a good route for each park that covers ALL the must rides in the right direction. We have time and fitness for 12 to 15 miles each day. Including breaks, say ~4hrs trail time, 3.5hrs. moving time. Trailforks or Strava route would be great but a simple list is fine too.
  • Also, what's a good place to grab a light post-ride meal and beers? Not too much (cost or quantity) since we'll be eating for real at 8PM.
  • Anything else I should consider?

Walking Purchase (aka Sals) Strava loop here. Mind you this is several years ago so there may be more there now, but in checking Trail Forks I think this link covers the works. Definitely hit up Boulder Trail…it’ll test you for sure!

Trexler is super fun
Trexler is a blast, no doubt. Most of us have been there several times and will be back soon. I tend to perfer natural, rocky like Allamuchy, Sourlands, Chimney Rock. I don't crush Red Bull cans on my forehead but I do love fast, rough, natural descents, jumping off/over stuff and getting scared. looks like South Mountain and Sals fit the bill.

I grew up in the area. I did a beer ride with the crew that went from trexler, to the ironton rail trail, to DL, to fegleys brew works, then thru walking purchase, and over to somo. We ran out of light (b/c like the idiots that we are, we did this ride in December) and got lost near the entrance of Somo, but it ended at Funk brewery, so all was good. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31454003
