Lake Telemark Re-route

There is a crappy old woods road that goes from the end of the Lake Ames Super D near the tent, up and over the hill and across a swamp to the main woods road that heads over to the new Shotgun trail and Camp trail. Most of us have been making a right before this climb, cutting through Lake Telemark, going up the road and crossing the water to get onto this woods road. One or two of the neighbors do not like the large increase in mountain bike activity in their neighborhood, and while it's perfectly legal for us to do so, we are looking to avoid confrontation and pissing off local homeowners. The old woods road climb has been revived, and there is now a new single track descent and awesome new rock bridge to avoid the old swamp. There are signs pointing you to this new section of trail and the bridge. Please use this new trail and bridge when possible. This new trail even has its own Strava segment (https://www.strava.com/segments/24253605). PM me if you have any questions or concerns, and thanks to the local trail builders for giving us a new option to avoid riding on that short section of pavement!

also noticed further up the shotgun trail crosses that woods road and goes down to the left. Where does that go to?

If you are on the main woods road heading toward Camp, we usually just make a right onto Shotgun. If you made a left on it then it goes down to a quad trail that goes down to Lake Denmark Rd, which you can cross and hop on the old rail bed. You can go through the new Shotgun intersection, make a left on the quad trail, climb out lower Shotgun and cross the woods road. We did that yesterday, but it's not particularly exciting.

So, I was back up there today and checked it out: No need to take the "shortcut" when you can stay in the woods, plus the bridge approaching the carriage road is really fun!
