My Coronavirus went away because I took some Emergen-C so I did a 3 hour gravel loop with some peeps. It started as a bigger group but someone showed up on a 29er and held us all up. We killed that guy and then split up into smaller groups.
After that we NICA'd. Bigger practice than last week. We have 9 kids now.
The shop has new hours so I have an extra hour in the morning. Gonna take a couple weeks to work out my ride schedule but I started with 3 hours today...
Brutal conditions this year if anyone is following along. 1 Day 17 hours in and the lead group is stuck at Finger Lake. The Happy Steps to Rainy Pass Lodge are going to be insane, there's no trail there ATM.
God damn. Tyson has been making his way through the pass for 14ish hours so far. Looks like he's riding at 5mph right now so the Gorge and Lake must be clear. He should hit Rohn soon. There's talk on the FB page that hunters came through with a sled filled with Bison and packed the trail up to Nikolai. Hopefully the pace picks up for these folks.
Tyson is just about to hit Bear Creek Safety Cabin. There was no trail to the cabin yesterday so he'll more than likely push straight to Nikolai, about 40 miles away. Or, at his current speed, 8 hours.
Conditions have been pretty brutal. The wind has blown all of the trails in so not much has been rideable. The leaders went through to Nikolai but everyone behind them are traveling at 1/2 the speed. Most of the field still hasn't gotten to Rohn!!
Clinton hit Nikolai first and I was pretty excited to see him in the lead. He's such an awesome guy and hasn't won this race yet. Unfortunately it looks like the trail to McGrath is gone so they're all together again.
