So yesterday afternoon around 4PM my 11 year old daughter asks if we can ride a loop around our town. Hey, sure..I'm always up for a ride with her. We end up riding about 12 miles through three towns. During that ride we saw exactly one other person on a bike and they didn't seem thrilled about it. Not even bikes parked outside a 7-11 or Quick Check etc.
It's really a shame that we didn't see one kid on a bike anywhere on this 12 mile loop, not one. I may sound like an old fart but when I was her age me and my friends were on our bikes riding around town every day from 7:00 AM till 7PM weather permitting (and sometimes even if it was drizzling). My daughter was even surprised and asked why more people were not out on their bikes enjoying the afternoon. At least I'm thankful she likes to ride. This morning I was off from work, she looked me straight in the face and said.."let's roll the tires are not going to wear out on their own".
