Invisalign costs

Anyone have a kid who used Invisalign? My daughter's orthodontist just gave us a quote of $5800, which seems high. Her office manager said she 'gave me a bit of a discount because you went through Phase 1 with us' which sounded like the exact kind of bullshit she might say to every single patient. When I initially asked the doctor what it was going to cost: "the office manager has to work out a quote" as if she didn't know EXACTLY what it costs.

She used to have a partner who I've known for years through riding but they split up and his new practice 45min away vs 10.

For the record, I like the practice, I just hate paying the sucker price. I reserve that for the Trek store. 🙂

Princeton area and bucks pa area and that was the price quoted. You figure it is a premium over regular braces, which was between 4,500 and 5,000

We were quoted $5300 or $ 5400 3-1/2 years ago. We got a 2 kid discount. Also ask if they have a pay in full discount

Wife just paid $5500 for them in the city. I thought we were getting taken but looks like we paid around average.

Just an aside, my older son's orthodontist had a rewards program. For every $100 spent, my son got some sort of chip for an eventual gift certificate. This is one part of the medical profession where they're still making money hand over fist. Guy had this six sigma-ish round room where he'd rotate through the patients. It was impressive. My younger was blessed with straight teeth. His regular dentist told us not to bring him near an orthodontist because they'd still recommend braces.

I currently have Invisaligns and all I can say is you have to be extremely disciplined to do it. Literally, every time you eat you have to brush your teeth afterward. I work from home most days so it's wasn't a big deal for me but for someone out and around all day it can be problematic.

There's a thing called the Invisalign Diet which happens because you stop snacking because you don't feel like brushing your teeth for a little snack!
You're supposed to have them in 22 hour/day to complete it in the 2 year time frame (for most people)

In thought kids wanted braces now? Bling them with different color rubber bands and such.

After I was done with braces, the retainer drove me nuts. Finally got tired of sleeping with it after a year.

So this is what I have to look forward to really soon? He's getting regular braces just like what mommy had. All I can think about is what kind of bike or bike parts I could buy with that money. I wonder if they offer cash discounts.

not cash, but usually pre-pay the part that isn't insurance would be a discount.
it is FSA eligible, that helps.

I'll just agree with everyone else, the quote sounds about right. And I will also agree that you need to be much more attentive with the Invisalign as opposed to traditional braces.
