Greetings, trail maintainers, builders, and advocates.

The Jersey Off Road Bicycle Association (JORBA) RVCC chapter will be hosting the IMBA Trail Care Crew seminar on October 18-19, 2008. The Classroom portion will be at the Sterling Forest Lautenberg Visitor Center, and the field work portion will take place at Ringwood State Park on Saturday Oct 18.

You are invited to join us for a day of learning about the latest techniques for building and maintaining sustainable trails.

Paydirt points

The deadline for PayDirt points has been extended to OCT 20th. This will allow those attending the IMBA TCC to recieve paydirt points/bicycle raffle opportunities for the FIELD WORK hours they accomplish. That means there are 3 hours on saturday & 3 on sunday on both Oct 11 & 12 and Oct 18 & 19th. It is the hope of JORBA that bikers, hikers, equestrians, and other nature lovers will sign up for the class to gain the knowledge on the Hows & Whys of the IMBA trail building guidelines. There are great classes. Meet new people and learn how teamwork builds a sustainable trial that all of us can use for years to come. Hope to see you there.

Having just attended an IMBA session this past weekend, I recommend that anyone interested in getting more into trail building, maintenance, and park stewarding go to this. It was not only cool to sit in the classroom and learn, but it was priceless to go out and learn by actually working with JDog, BobW, gt2brew, and Mergs (among others).

I would like to give a big thanks to all those who came out to participate in the Ringwood/Sterling IMBA TCC on Saturday. About 47 people came out to participate. Although mostly bikers, there were park employees from two states, hikers and equestrians as well. A big thanks to Kelly and Collins Bishop from IMBA for the great learning experience. The classroom session was awesome, and you mountain bikers rock when it comes to getting work done on the trail. The new trail is complete with this re-route finished on Saturday. 47 people take home a huge amount of information, and make new contacts with trail users of all types.

It was a fun time yesterday. I got to enjoy the TM part not having to worry about every little detail of the day. Also got to spend a lot of time with Kelly learning about trail design.

I couldn't make the ride today but can't wait to get up there to ride the new stuff. RW is now better than ever.
