My man @jklett hooked me up with a vintage GF Montare (Thanks homie!)
My goal, should you choose to accept it, is to make a flat bar gravel roader.

Wheels on there for mock up and measure.

Side note: can anyone help date this based on the cable stops?
Looking at the pattern of these over the years, I’m thinking early 90’s

If it helps, frame was originally blue/yellow.

Also, wtf is this bolt-on spot on the drive side?
Chain keeper? Odd-ass der mount?

So I’ve found everything I need to put this together, but want to try to do it budget-friendly.
Here’s what I’m looking for-
What you got?

Shopping list:

Wheelset: 700c/29
-Rim brake
-19 to 28 internal diameter (the wider mo better)
-135qr rear/100qr front
-8/9/10 sp compatible

Drive train: 2x10 preferred
-F der: 35mm clamp on top pull
-R der: 10sp
-crankset/BB: threaded GXP 73mm
-shifters 2x10 preferred

Brakes:
-long reach center bolt rim calipers ~63.5mm centerbolt to mid pad
-brake levers

Also just found some xtr front shifters(sl-m960) 1 is ispec b and 1 is ispec a. Let me know if either would work for you and it's also yours. You can get ispec to bar mount adaptors kcnc makes them

Also... I am pretty sure the POSS has the long reach brake calipers.
Let me know if you want the key to the u lock :p

That braze-on on the chainstay is for an old bolt-on chain catcher. It looked like a saw. I can't find a picture of one because Google has gotten so bad with Sponsored Ads that typing in anything Trek just fills the page with new Madones.

I might have wheels for you. I need to venture into the basement to make sure I didn't already give them to someone else though.

Right on, right on-
@moose35 thank you, let me spec those and I’ll let you know

@Paul H yes on both- I’ll scope the calipers tomorrow and check.

@JimN that would be great- looking for wider than typical road hoops if they saves you a trip to the basement.

@jimvreeland thanks, that’s what I thought.
I figured it would be easy to ID, until I realized GF made like eleventy-billion mtbs over the years.

Probably have stuff you can use. Will check when I get home.
Right on, if things work out, I’m looking at those Rock & Roads too...
Plus I already owe you thank you beers. Pretty sure Mitch drank them.

Great to see this bike being..."re..cycled" ! I got it free from another member on here. I gave it to jklett when I had to downsize my fleet before moving. That purple Goose that jus got sold was one of mine as well, that also came from horse trading with another member. And yesterday afternoon I swapped jklett my older park bike for his GT. More love for more bikes is more better! And keeps 'em outta the landfill longer as well !

I have a silver velocity wheelset in the garage that’ll work for that application if you want them. I’ll stick them in the car Friday so I’ll have them at CP.

Wow, thanks all-
This thing is almost built!

Let me check specs, and I'll get with you all.
Thanks!

Yeah, I think these are just regular road wheels. The rims say ALX 200 but I don't know anything about them. They are in the basement, and they are yours if you want them.

Thank you, but I think these are going to be too narrow.
