How about ??

Sounds great!!! Since later life is knocking on my door.

i was just thinking how much longer could i be riding hartshorne and CR? I used to think 70, but thats coming up quick. So id like to see 80.

ok, I'll bite on the nutrition part..been wanting to DIY on-bike nutrition for a 40 mile ride I have been doing recently:

Gravel ride to trail: 12.5 miles
Six Mile out (eastbound) and back (westbound): 13.5 miles
Gravel ride back: 12.5 miles

I bought two 3.5 oz flasks that I want to fill with DIY carb/sodium mix to try to ramp up the speed on the gravel parts of the ride (not trying to go fast at 6mile due to oncoming taffic and peeps riding without helmets).

So far I tried filling the flasks with maplen syrup, about half teaspoon of salt and lemon juice to cut the sweetness, but I overdid the lemon juice and it had a bit of a kick I didnt like.

Is anyone trying DIY nutrition experiments like this? I was wondering about mixing in honey but that's fructose so needs work in the liver....might try that next time.

This seems to be my theme lately - I have a bad shoulder with another not far behind. I asked my Doctor what I could do, she noted shots but also suggested that since I do not like to put things in my body like this unless I want to get radical (a lot less of that these days) I should hold off and use my shoulder when needed and learn to rest.

Being back on the bike lately and riding some trails has brought back my desire for a single speed - but my knees remember real fast what that feels like after a while. I have not had to wear a knee brace for years - since I sold my single speed actually. Maybe I will try again if I loose the fifty pound weight I am carrying around.

Guess I will pile on - I keep thinking of building a dual suspension trail bike, but my fatty with the five inch tires and suspension fork has been great - very comfy, just not fast. That is probably a good thing.

there's a season for riding in NJ?
Not for me, but based on all the Indoor Training threads here, I believe some people don't go outside in the Winter. And a trainer is rideable even with a broken wrist it just makes it even less enjoyable than it already is.

Trying to stay fit and healthy as one gets older seems to be about trying just not to fall below baseline. Just maintaining baseline becomes the goal and that gets harder every year. In comparison, the average, non-exercise-minded person's fitness baseline trends downward with age.
