Maybe he uses the pickup for pickup things...

Looking for a 2-bike carrier I can hook up to a pickup. Preferably 2inchsize hitch. Also open to solutions to place the bikes in the bed.

Cost me about $50 to make, absolutely love it. Rock solid, doesn't move a bit with the tailgate closed (wood is notched to the bed and there are two L brackets at the tailgate seam). Added a second mount for my road/gravel bike

Get yourself a rocky mounts westslope.
2 bike. I think I found mine for $150 on Marketplace.
No need to take off a wheel or fold up a bed cover. I totally get using a hitch rack on a pickup.

I personally think a hitch mounted bike carrier would fit a pickup just great, especially a Yakima Hold Up 2 with some rust but plenty of life and will to serve left in it. As you know, I just happen to be selling ine of those...

That is a pretty awesome setup. Wife's bike is carbon, so frame getting damaged is a concern. Not a problem with this setup. Only downside is need to remove tires each time.

Side note: Love the stickers

I throw my carbon bikes on the tailgate of my truck. No issue so far (been doing this since 2018). The tailgate thing goesnt work as well for road bikes (at least the tailgate on my truck makes them sit not quite straight and want to lean a bit but it's never hurt anything)

Thanks!!! Pulling the wheel is almost an afterthought for me at this point since it's so routine. I keep a multi hex in the truck (among other things), so I grab that first, drop the tailgate, waaaaa-la! My S4 Stumpy Evo juuuuuust fits straight in, previous Enduro had to be catty-cornered (5"7" bed).

I use mine hitch mounted bike rack on my pickup all the time. With my toolbox in the back, I can lay my mountain bike down, but my road and gravel bike don't always lay the best and I get worried about the levers breaking or something happening with the cockpit.

most don't tho....
inverse relationship between size of pickup and actual use as pickup. this is pure science, by the way.

hides in corner to avoid onslaught of the minority of people this does no apply to......
Should qualify as a Work Truck although I try to keep the bed empty when possible 😀

I have a Thule Instagator Pro i am posting for sale. Mount a bike in the bed; no wheels need to be removed. Bike rack comes out in 30 seconds for full bed use when not carrying a bike.
