The Highlands Gran Fondo is back for 2015!
What is a Gran Fondo? A ride, an experience, a personal challenge, a race, a great time!
The Highlands Gran Fondo is a celebration of cycling that takes place in the heart of the New Jersey Highlands on June 7th. The third year for the event will not only mature the execution, but will also include some pronounced highlights. New for this year is a relocated start/finish venue at High Point Brewery in Butler as well as a revamped route. The course will extend further north and west going over the highest point in New Jersey and through picturesque High Point State Park before returning to downtown Butler. I am excited to introduce more of the Highlands to our riders. Quiet friendly roads, along with a scenic rolling route, will surely put a smile on everyone's face. There will be a short 35 mile, a medium 60 mile, or a long 100 mile course to choose from. Each course will have designated race sections where riders can challenge the clock to compete with others and will also have non-times segments where riders can roll along at a through at a pace to enjoy the scenic ride. Each rider is assigned timing chip track their progress on a LIVE REAL TIME RESULTS platform. This format allows riders to ride with friends and race with friends. After the ride we will have a catered meal from Charlie Browns, live music, Ramstein beer and be giving away cash and prizes to the fastest racers of the timed sections and having a Mega Raffle to end the day.
