im from bergenfield, near hackensack and teaneck if that helps

Brian - You're 30 minutes from Ringwood which is half the time to some of the parks you mentioned. There's no direct route but I'm in Westwood and Tim (Steve Guttenburg on here) is from Norwood and we ride Ringwood and Skyline a bit. Drop a line if you want to ride one weekend and we'll show you around.

Yes, you'll just have to pick better lines in some of the rockier sections, at the end it will make you a better rider :)

Im a Bergenfielder

I'm in Bergenfield too. Also have Sprain Ridge in Yonkers. Hardtail will hold up in Ringwood, Skyline will hurt but it can be done, your body will take more punishment. Welcome aboard. We'll hook up sometime.

jungle habitat

Jungle habitat is a blast to ride and most of it is not very technical single track. You should be fine on a hardtail. I'm in Dumont so another neighbor of yours as well as a newcomer to this site.

Nice to see Bergen County representin on here. Some times I think we are few -- but we are many!

ebineezer -- I would definitely do Ringwood, Jungle Habitat and the other places people mentioned before you do Skyline (Ramapo) if you're riding a hardtail and you're a beginner/intermediate rider. It could be okay and it could be miserable. Thems some serious trails.

Hi and welcome ebineezer. I am from Ho-Ho-Kus, which is Bergen too.

ebineezer, ho ho ho kus .... sounds like the same holiday, no ?

I ride Ringwood all the time. Jungle Habitat would be a good choice too. RVCC is working on a new map for both. Trails being built and repaired in both places all the time. An easy way to get to know new places and new people that ride, is to go out and join the trail crews. Please check out jorba.org for details. Hope to see you out there.:)

Hey

Welcome aboard. Youlive close to RobG. Justin and I are in Westwood. I work at Campmor so if you have any questions stop on in. As PixyChick and Justin and Rob could confess we all ride there. If we're not at work we're mostly at Ringwood but sometimes we'll shoot to Blue Mtn.

Hi Bergen riders

My name is Doug from Paramus. I head the NJMBC and we do weekly rides that leave from Paramus at 7:30 on Sunday mornings that go all over the state. Check out www.clubmtb.com and look for the NJMBC in Paramus through the NJ section club explorer.......rides e mailed each week.

NJMBC
North Jersey Mountain Bike Club

Since the mid 80s, The North Jersey Mountain Bike Club is comprised of near 200 enthusiastic men and women (ages ranging from late 20's to over 50) who meet once a week for great mountain bike rides from the Northern New Jersey area. Our main objective is to have safe, but thrilling rides...along with just getting out there and having a terrific social time each Sunday. We have even seen a few marriages come out of the club. The club does not have any membership fees, although a cash donation of $10.00 will be accepted for www.clubmtb.com and IMBA donations. Our guidelines require that riders wear a helmet, carry your own tools, pump, tubes, water, etc. You must provide your own transportation to and from our ride locations. All riding abilities are welcome, though a decent level of fitness is required, as most members are now at a higher level of skill and can hammer. All rides are headed by very seasoned riders and no one gets left behind.
The North Jersey Mountain Bike Club visits some of the best riding destinations in the New Jersey, New York State, and Pennsylvania. As a member through www.clubmtb.com you will be e mailed rides each week. Rides leave from Petruska Park in Paramus NJ at 7:30 am Sundays. (Time may vary with ride location.) We are also currently organizing our annual Fat Tire Quest trip. Last year, the club went to the Fat Tire Festival in Moab, Utah in mid-October. The NJMBC joined thousands of other mountain bike enthusiasts, for the thrill of riding some of the best trails our country has to offer.
