I guess since I keep checking in here I will participate for fun even tho I already purposely skipped Day 2 because I needed to continue my recovery from my bday ride.

July 1:
After taking off completely June 30 to recover, this was my first ride and my legs were achy but not too bad. drafted most of the time off a friend of mine so the 20 miles went pretty quick/easy. didnt take any pics tho was just trying to ride and not over do it.

July 3rd:
Felt much better today after taking another day off yesterday when i spent most of the day stretching the legs and back in between work calls. A little more umpf in this ride just to see where the legs were at but it was too hot to try any real efforts. Plus first big group ride from the shop tomorrow so saved some energy.

Lame because No pics again but somehow ended up again with 20 miles.

3/31 Twofer! First I was able to duck out of work for a bit and I took a spin around a very humid Huber Woods this morning. Pretty much everyone knows Hartshorne is a complete zoo on weekends but that usually means Huber is a lot less traveled. That was certainly the case this morning. I basically had the trails to myself.

Then when I got home from work I asked my 7 year old son if he wanted to go for a ride. I was surprised when he said yeas so we headed out for the local dirt.

As tired as I might be, I always get a little grin on my face when the boy wants to go for a ride. It won’t be long and he’ll be riding circles around me.

Day 3
Liverpool FC are the 2020 Premier League Champions. They played last years champions (Manchester City) yesterday and were crushed. My sister came in from NYC to watch the game with me following proper distancing protocols and staying outside. When it rains it pours:

Vermont
F yeah I said Vermont, Rutland to be precise

We kicked off the weekend with a stop in Vermont on the way to New Hampshire. Funny enough we just found out that Vermont extended the non-quarantine zone and it now includes the county in NJ where we live.

Score!

D & I met up with Joy & Steve. Good start to a 5 day trip away from home.

Day 4
Happy 4th of July!! I wanted to lift today so my bike ride was just to be a warm-up. And I needed to go to the UPS store. So I decided to take out my youngest sons e-bike just for kicks. Halfway to Flemington it occurred to me that it was July 4th and UPS would be closed. So I continued on to fill the hour. The bike is unusual and too small for me. It is pedal-assist up to 15 mph, then it's pedal only, yet the gearing only allows you to 'spin' your legs above 15 mph. It was an interesting experiment, but I won't be riding that thing again.

Allamuchy North. Unfortunately, I broke a spoke, which punctured the rim tape and deflated my rear tire. The spokes have internal nipples and so it went right thru the tape in my tubeless rim. The tube I have had in my bag probably 1-2 years apparently had a hole in it, so I could not fix the tire. I got tired of carrying a pump as I can't remember the last time I got a flat, and so I was not able to patch the tube and inflate, as I used the CO2 on the tube with the holes.

So had to walk about 2.5 miles back to the car, although it was generally flat or downhill.

Day 4: after coming home from the shore I wasn't feeling it today but my 5yo dragged me out this afternoon :). We rode up the canal from
Ewing to Titusville for a well deserved ice cream. From being timid riding with training wheels in March, to what he is doing now amazes me!

Official return of the weekly shop ride and I was co-ride leader today. Big group and we split into two but we kept the front group controlled and reasonable since it’s been too long since we did any real group rides.

I left early for some extra miles because I knew it would get hot later. Legs felt great fuck holy fuck was it humid. I am lucky I can ride in and ride home since I only live 6-7 miles from the shop so getting some extra for my metric C today wasn’t too tricky

big peleton we didn’t social distance ride as much as I would have liked but overall it was great to be back with my cycling family

no pics but I jumped right in the pool when I got back and devoured 2 breakfast sandwiches.
