Day 14. I had a nice pace for an easy day. Legs getting a little stronger. Car goes into the shop in the morning to resolve a shimmy in the front end. Have not been able to take bike to a destination all weekend. Another local ride and recovery in back yard.

13/31 in the bag. It was another less than ideal ride. It started out great keeping a nice pace from my house and into Metuchen where I hopped on the Middlesex Greenway. The Metuchen section was packed but once I got over towards Fords I had the path to myself.

I rode back along the Greenway and onto the streets in Metuchen. I had a 30 mile route planned out and I was now about 15 miles in and I heard the dreaded hiss of sealant blowing out of my rear tire again. Turns out the Genuine Innovations tire plug i used to seal the puncture in my rear tire yesterday worked itself loose. I tried to re-plug the hole unsuccessfully. I gotta say that the Genuine Innovations tire plug kit/side of bacon is garbage. The plugs stick to themselves, the tool, everything but the tire. I couldn't get them to stay in the tire as they would stick to the tool and come right back out. That was an exercise in futility so I had to throw in a tube. I blew through both of my CO2 cartridges during this fiasco and my mood was bummed. I decided to cut the ride down to 22 miles. On the bright side I did see a couple pretty nice bucks near Thomas Edison State Park which brought my mood back up and I remembered why I like to ride. Hopefully I can manage a little longer ride tomorrow.

wed july 10 - typical commute day, 4 rides...occasionally, when i'm riding the west side greenway, i see a dude riding with his tiny dog in the basket. the dog wears goggles. it's awesome. anyone else seen this dude? I will get a pic next time if possible!

thu july 11 - slightly extended commute day 4 rides...

i took the long way in via central park - @MadisonDan and i were thinking the same thing to avoid that nite's rain...rode past the dakota...RIP John Lennon...

despite my plans to avoid the rain on the way home, i got off the train at metropark and saw this radar image...i rolled the dice and just rode home, and the skies opened up!...my shoes are finally dry today!

extended the commute in the AM by riding through central park again.

also grabbed this brew at Newark Penn...i've been so bad with posting to the WBAYDRN thread, so please consider this a dual post...

saturday july 13 - big group road ride with the local crew (that's me on the far right)

sunday july 14 - another big group road ride...had to stop for a fellow rider's broken spoke to do some roadside maguyver-ing to get the wheel "true-enough" to roll the last 12 miles home...i'm pretty sure this is my hand!

I had the Dynaplug kit ordered about 2 minutes after I got home from that ride. I balked at the price a few months ago when I bought the bacon strips but it became very apparent that it's worth every penny. Another tough lesson learned but now I am confident that I am prepared to handle this stuff on the road.

Day 15. Was very optimistic starting this. Got detoured here and there around Vossler road near chimney rock. Did get a short rock loop in near Miller Lane. Must have picked up something sharp cutting thru the construction areas and got a slow leak that wouldn’t seal itself. Had to stop several times to top off. Note to self: reread post above about tubeless tire plugs.

On the positive side...instead of kids yelling at me. Three young guys pulled over as I was getting near home (saw my tire was low) and asked if I wanted to use their pump.

Day 15. Went to Mercer after work for some nice easy miles. This cold is really kicking my ass so I needed some flat easy spinning.

Last year on this day I was having surgery to have my broken leg fixed so I will take the sniffles any day over that.
