Flat like a mf'er, get stung by a bee!
This ride had a little bit of everything.
A flat, a bee sting and a beer drop.

Some might say these gloves are played, but they are perfectly worn in to allow fingerprint ID on the phone without taking them off.

They do have a funk to them already though. Will get washed before the end of July.

Head out on the pitbike (HT) which I thought I had fully sorted out.
Nope, 3/4 mile in, rear tire is all kinds of squishy. Damnit.
Flat on me once, shame on you-
Flat on me 18 more times, and I guess that's on me.

Back to the garage for a quick swap and back to the scheduled ride.

5 minutes in, bee sting to the back of the knee-
What's that part called-
a legpit? Anyway- soldier on.

First stop: a thank you to the LBS for a quick hook up last night.

Stopped in expecting to beg/plead for a rush job on a spoke replacement-
Begging not necessary. My man Dan just did a quick swap and true, and bam!

Then off to the local Tick farm.
Haven't checked myself, but probably have a few stowaways.
Jokes on them though- they probably got poison ivy while they were on me.
Ha!

Cool - one of my old cycling friends from Philly is also on that island this week. He posted a gravel ride he did on a rented gravel bike.
So far about 70 percent of people we've talked to have been from Jersey, it's crazy. I had a pitman pumptrack sweater on yesterday and had someone from the next town over come tell me he came here to get away from South Jersey, lol.

Anyone have any personal goals?

Mine is to enjoy the ride and keep enjoying it long after this challenge is over. I have only been back on a bike for a little over a year and I have spent nearly all of that time trying to get better and faster. While improving has most certainly been fulfilling I haven't spent nearly enough time just having fun. Riding to make time has been really refreshing compared to riding to beat time. Taking pictures on the last 3 rides has made me more aware of what is around me and ultimately helped me relish in the experience.

Had to fix the world's worst clunk in the drivetrain before I even started. I have ignored it for weeks but it got much worse my last couple rides. Press fit BBs are the devil and green Loctite cure time sucks on aluminum if you don't have any primer. I got lucky and did not hear a peep tonight after my fix. Cleaning out the grease was probably enough so the Loctite should keep that thing in until the sun goes red giant.

I rolled into Califon to find the town bizarrely packed with vehicles and people. I missed their fireworks finale by about 60 seconds.

Day 3 done... waited for a storm to roll through and went out in the evening. Took the Mary's out on the road to stay dry and to scope out a spot for the 4H fireworks tomorrow. We figured if it pours the SS bikes will take on the least amount of damage. Ended up riding for 1:20 and rolled back into the driveway just before dark. One of these days we'll remember to take pics...🙂
