Gran Fondo NY

My friend told me about this grandfondo last month. I was looking at the site last night. The registration fee of $195 makes this unattractive to me especially when I did something similar to this for free last weekend. grandfondo Philly was $99 and also came w/free jersey.

No way, i can do this same ride myself any other time. I'd consider it if it were $100 or less but $195 is a rip off IMO.
 
Pricing aside, this was a really well-organized ride...tough, too! They added the Alpine Boat Basin and a few other climbs to the course at the last minute, so the total ascent ended up being somewhere around 8400ft...
 
I rode this yesterday. Hardest century I've ever done. Hardest thing I've ever completed in my life. Worth every penny of the registration.
 
The only other century I've ever done was Montauk (extremely flat)...so yeah, this was the hardest century I've ever done, too...! Definitely the most climbing I've ever done in a single day...

And yeah, I have no complaints about the cost based on how well-organized and supported this ride was...
 
A friend of mine worked at the fondo and scored me a jersey, and they are nice. I heard there were a couple of quirks but was a overall well organized and next year they are not going to make it on Mothers day.
