Got in a quick ride!!!!

After a not so great ride at CCC yesterday that ended up with a visit to the LBS. I decided I would give Ceres a try this morning after work. I got to the back parking lot before the sun came up and sat in my truck drinking my coffee thinking how much better my ride would be today. I was just going to take it easy and enjoy myself. 🙂 I set out at first light and start to have some fun exploring the trails. There's still a lot of single track that I don't know yet since I just started riding them a month ago. When I was a kid I stuck to the 4 wheeler trails all the time. I'm riding along having an awesome time when I notice the clouds off in the distance 🙁 and decided I'd better make my way back closer to the truck. When I'm about 100 yards away from the lot it starts to rain. I kick it into high gear and start cranking on the bike. I made it back to the truck just as the skies open up. I was never so happy that I parked in the back lot and not at the main gate. Crossing the creek during a down pour is never fun unless you get to it early. I managed a nice 45 minute loop of the trails which weren't too bad for the most part. Had some mud in the low spots and some slippery roots. Of course the closer I got to the creek the worse it was and I didn't go over to the main park side of the creek to access any damage from the last storms so no updates on the trails on that side. I'm surprised there wasn't more erosion after the down pours we've been getting but I'm not complaining. 😀 Hoping to get back out there this weekend for a longer ride.

The ride itself went good but 5 minutes into it I developed a creak in my bike.( Both sides when applying pressure) I really need to get some tools and start doing repairs myself. I had new cranks and pedals put on this bike a couple weeks ago. First the crank arms were loose so I tightened them myself and then when I was riding CCC yesterday the pedals were making noise. When the LBS pulled off the pedals there wasn't any grease on the threads. (Bone dry) Put some grease on them, tightened them up and the noise was gone. The LBS I went to this time wasn't the one that originally put the cranks and pedal on for me the first time. Riding with a bike that goes "creak, creak, creak creak" gets annoying especially when you know something is wrong and you cut your ride short. Had a great ride today though.😀

I know that feeling had alot of problems with my brakes on the diSSent, it can be very frustrating

I just took in my front wheel because i've been getting a creak off and on. Already went through this with the rear a little over a month ago. What a drag.

Brian, assuming i get my wheel back tomorrow (and the weather cooperates) i may try to head out to Ceres saturday morning. Let me know if you're going to be out that way then.

Sat. morning I'll be getting my horse's teeth cleaned and filed down so I won't be able to get a ride in until the afternoon. If you can do an afternoon ride let me know. If you do go in the morning I'd suggest parking at the back lot so you don't have to cross the creek. It's pretty muddy in the low areas along the creek and the water is deeper from all this rain.

Family stuff going on in the afternoon so looks like that wont work this time around...oh well. Another time then.
Only been there once, so can't say i know where the back lot is. Been to the one on main st.

Can't say I know where the back lot is either. Only parked at the small main lot with the gate. Is it near the golf course?

Yes it's just past the golf course on the right side. It's not marked like the main gate so you have to look for the second turn off Pitman Rd. as you pass the golf course. The first turn will just look like your driving into the woods if you make it by mistake. The lot is across the street from the house with the pond in it's side yard.
