glad you don't have my problem

so here is a trend I have been seeing on fora: someone posts a problem and 20-30% of the replies state that the replier does NOT have them problem.

You ask on sailboat forum about your seized flurb and 3 of the first 5 posters state how their flurb never seizes because they take good care of it. Someone asks the best way to wean kids off training wheels and we get posts about kids never used training wheels. Someone wonders what to do about problem dogs off leash and we get how your dog is not a problem. I'm truly happy you don't have my problem but that does not help me.

seems to be some masturbatory extension of social media. probably will not change the course of human history but curious observation.

not that I am any better albeit in the other direction: if someone falls, let me tell you about the time I fell worse.

Well I haven't experienced your problem, but I have noticed this:

In things such as Amazon questions people will respond "I don't know" as if they thought the question asker was directing the question specifically at them and not at the broad audience of amazon users.

Was it a marine flurb? People try to use automotive flurbs because they're cheaper but they won't last a week in a boat.

I've asked everyone in the office, we're split 50/50 on whether it's ok to let your flurb run free or keep it on a leash.

Personally, I think your boat uses imperial units, but the flurb you got was mislabeled and is really metric.

If you you use the old getto method of using a split tube and adding some PVC shavings you should be able to seat your flurb, That's if you remove the core and use a compressor (of course).

A flux capacitor would probably make that problem go away

If looking for clear, concise, lucid, dyed-in-the-wool, common sense advice.. posting to a forum frequented by assnecks and wiseacres probably won't leave you with the direction you desire. I suggest writing your congressman.

if it happened to me, it makes me an expert - or at least provides some context, which is like empathy.

i had two flurbs seize on an offshore trip, and i hate seatow (no insurance) - ended up soaking it in used
motor oil for eight hours. barely serviceable, so we ended up replacing both.

this doesn't help you a lick, but i feel your pain.
