Avatars serve a very useful purpose. It allows the board to be a little more instant when reading a thread.

Typically when I meet someone in person from here, I immediately associate them with their avatar. I heart avatars.

All of my photos at work are professionally edited in PAINT. Those of you that know paint, know that any drawing you ever mess with looks like a 3 year old did it. For example, look at this photo. Ben wants the skirt shorter, but somehow it looks more like she crapped herself.
