Generic, safe torque values for linkages

It's generally by the size of the screw, not the actual location.

Aluminum, steel, or titanium, size of the screw, and the thread (coarse or fine).

Anything that deviates from those recommendations needs a label.

Ie: a shock pivot that is aluminum/8mm is typically 10nm. Steel might be 15, but they're uncommon now.
 
If it's not printed on the fastener or component, I'll refer to the online owners manual for that information. Maybe the LBS where the bike was purchased could provide that information.
 
That is one thing I like about Santa Cruz, at times I have e-mailed about torque on parts not showing on the website. Maybe a day or two but they always got back to me and was in touch with me in the time getting back to me.
