Anyone have a Fork Crown Race Removal Tool that I can borrow for 10 minutes near Allendale NJ (or near a park in the North or West: Rwood, Wayway, Mooch, MD)? Cheers!
The crown is recessed a bit. This will not work.Hammer and flat blade screwdriver?
Thanks. This may work. Can you snap a photo of the tool?I have a cheap bearing separator you can try. I've used it a few time on crown races, but it's not the perfect tool. May gouge it a little if your not careful.
This might work. I would love to borrow. You are in Ringwood right?

How does this thing fit but not a screwdriver? This might work. I would love to borrow. You are in Ringwood right?
How would that work and not a flat head, picture please!

Maybe polishing the edges of the extractor would make it less prone to marring the crown.
Thanks again for the kind offer/loan. Alright, I will hit you up the next time I ride Rwood which is very often (I rode from Ryerson early this AM to beat the heat). Cheers!Yes in Ringwood.
I do not know which of you lunatics to answer. Trust me, I fiddled with a screwdriver but the fork crown protrudes too much.
The correct tool is this (which I do not have and do not feel like hassling any of my friends who own bike shops due to their current predicament):

Suggestions? It does not. Basically, don't buy a headset with a flush crown race.
Thx to allI just want to see the crown to make a better suggestion, I'd try tick get it with a pick, if I'm not reusing I'd use a nail punch to ding it and catch on with a flathead
