JORBA OPENS MEMBERSHIP

JORBA (Jersey Off Road Bicycling Association) has opened paid membership and has a fresh new look. JORBA, established in 1996 and long time IMBA affiliate, is a group of New Jersey mountain bikers dedicated to cycling advocacy, education and conservation of New Jersey’s diverse natural resources.

JORBA is composed of chapters throughout the Garden State which steward the vast network of trails we ride. We work closely with land managers and other user groups on the federal, state and local level to assist with trail maintenance, building and planning sustainable trails, environmental conservation and community outreach initiatives. JORBA has hosted IMBA’s Trail Care Crew, trains and operates numerous National Mountain Bike Patrols and attends the National Bike Summit.

JORBA chapters host regular group rides, road trips, skills clinics and special bike related events and gatherings. We also have partnerships with regional race directors. The innovative “Paydirt” program, which awards racers with points for time dedicated to trail maintenance, was created by JORBA and has vastly improved volunteer hours throughout the state. Last year JORBA chapters dedicated over 3000 volunteer hours throughout the state.

Riders of all ages, abilities, areas and riding styles will find a friendly home in one of our chapters. A regular newsletter, t-shirts, jerseys and other swag are given at various membership levels, which will suit any budget. With a statewide unified voice we look forward to maintaining and improving New Jersey’s exciting trails and bike community for present and future generations. For more information please see us on the web at www.jorba.org or visit join.jorba.org to become a member.

Its really cool to see people stepping up and being part of this membership roll out. We absolutely need a unified voice in NJ, and numbers to back up that voice!

Awesome! Just so you guys know who have signed up we are having our first fufillment meeting on the 16th, shirts and jersies will go out then. The shirts look great, grey with black highlights. The wicking tee is from Hoss and is also real cool.

We have had a great response so far, maybe a bit slow but better than what we expected. I am real happy with how many have singed on so far. Once the schwag starts rolling out and people see the shirts and wicking tee's, and word of mouth spreads, we anticipate even more response.

The newsletter is in the works and will continue to grow as membership builds and more industry folks come onboard.

The press release went to a ton of papers, mags, etc. and we will have members at a lot of regional events through the year where we hope to show more about what JORBA does and gain more members that way.

We are on track to do better than breaking even, which is awesome. 100% of the membership funds go back to the organization. In a few years I see JORBA being very strong with membership numbers comparable to other northeast states. That can only be good for trail riding in our little neck of the woods!
