I have not fat biked Lake Placid, but have ridden the Lussi/Logger trails and Craig Woods from downtown during the summer months. Craig Woods is more flow/DHish trails, Lussi/Logger are mostly flat with tight ST, some with entertaining names from Caddyshack. I'll assume the rental shop will have some suggestions too.Hi Y'all
I'm going up to Lake Placid this weekend for my sons ski race, but I don't think that I will ski.
I see that you can rent fat bikes up there, has anyone done that up there before? how are the trails, would you recommend it?.
Whats the hiking like? any recommendations for maybe a 4 mile hike?. I might just do that instead of renting a fat bike.I have not fat biked Lake Placid, but have ridden the Lussi/Logger trails and Craig Woods from downtown during the summer months. From the Trailforks link on the Beta website linked, I haven't ridden the other locations. Hiked the Penisula Trails a bit in winter. Mt. Van Hoevenberg is the cross county skiing and bobsled run locations. It just hosted a WC race in Sept. Maybe some fat biking there?
The hike we did on the Peninsula Trails was in winter and short. We walked from the lot out to the dam on Lake Placid. It was a bit icy in spots. Would have walked further, but my wife wasn't feeling well. We arrived the day after Christmas '19 and probably was C19 before we knew what it was. Maybe you'll need snow shoes.Whats the hiking like? any recommendations for maybe a 4 mile hike?. I might just do that instead of renting a fat bike.
