Family friend cyclist critically injured after being struck.

Hey All

This past week has been pretty crappy in our area with the flooding from Ida. We also had a family friend and elite athlete that was hit on Saturday in Fairfield. He was injured pretty badly.

Any help for the family would be appreciated.

Wow. Glad the donation goal was met after just one day.

Riding on the road with traffic scares me I will say.
I honestly hope that vehicle is destroyed. Cited as an unsafe vehicle, presumably from the engine blocking quite a bit of the sight picture.

Seriously. Senior citizen driving a 60 yr old car with a giant engine protruding from the hood. I'm a car guy too and I don't want to knock tuner culture but moments like these are a reminder how unsafe some vehicles are when we share the road with pedestrians and cyclists and even motorcycles. Wishes for recovery to the cyclist.

Oh man.... this really sucks. I hope that he recovers.
I ride the road and will continue to do so but this sure is scary.

Heard about this from mutual friends that ride with him it’s awful. You can never be too careful riding the roads with cars and trucks around.

The worst part when I read about it the online article of some local newspaper has a pic of the front of the car and the bike wedged under the front tire. 🤬

Hopefully he makes a strong recovery and no permanent injuries.
