Dropper Cable Length w/ Integrated Headset

I'm setting up my daughter's Cannondale Scalpel and I need to install the dropper cable. Of course this bike has that new-fangled integrated headset. I'm curious how to handle the dropper cable length? On a "normal" bike I would just turn the bars straight with the dropped installed to seat height and cut the cable for a clean sweep to the lever. Then to remove the seat I would just turn the bars to the right to create the slack to pull the dropper from the seat tube. With the integrated headset, turning the bars doesn't change the effective cable length. I guess I have to have the cable out of the seat tube enough to service the dropper and then cut the bar end? Then the resulting excess at the bar "is what it is"?

Am I making any sense? lol

Can’t you just trim it there? Slide the cable out and cut the housing.

I must be misunderstanding the issue.

Edit: this is why I bought an Epic Evo. I can’t deal with this integrated cable. BS.

So I played around with this a bunch last night. I couldn't come up with any solution that allowed the dropper to be removed (without removing the cable from the actuator) that didn't result in some hideous amount of excess cable up front. I guess it just is what it is with these bikes.

Headset cable route is forcing the consumer to go wireless, I really believe this. It forced me! Love everything about my bike but cables in the headset are moronic. That engineer should be flogged.

Can you just unbolt the dropper lever and slide the cable with the lever attached? That’s what I would do it.
That's how I did it on mine, my clamp completely opens on a hinge (not headset routed, just keeping it tidy)

But I just installed a wireless dropper so screw that noise.

BTW, those brakes come with little plastic clippies that go underneath the bottom stem faceplate screws (between the faceplate/stem) to clip those hoses into. Keeps the rear brake from looking like that.

Is that what those are for? I need to figure out how to use them to make it look nice now. Any chance you have a pic?

I don't, sorry. Remove a bottom faceplate screw entirely, and slip it in the gap, then reinstall it/torque to spec. Clip the hose into it when you're done (but that looks way too long to get it to cooperate right now).

Yeah, I understood how you wanted me to install them, but with the hose coming straight out from under the stem I don't see how this could ever work to hold it?
