Dieselgate

Is anyone here impacted by the VW/Audi diesel thing, with either a 2.0L or 3.0L engine? Just curious to see how your saga is unfolding.

My wife just turned in her sport wagon. VW basically paid us 5 grand to drive it for 18 months.
The process was a little slow moving at first but I think once people started bitching they got better.

whatever happened to that guy that stripped is whole car down to the frame, did they ever accept it?
Last I heard VW called him, cancelled his appointment for turning in his car with the "We don't know what to do with you yet, we'll figure it out and get back to you".

Really though, what he did was stupid. If he stripped the car and showed up he may have been OK. But he went on the internet touting how smart he was and obviously if everyone did that it could be a problem for VW. Or not, depending on what they're doing with the cars.

From what I understand, if your car is "unfixable", the rule is that it has to stay in the US, so VW doesn't just sell the "broken" car in some other market. If you have one of these cars, then it will likely get scrapped, so I can see why someone would try to part it out themselves.

Interested to see who here has a 3.0, and which generation it is. Mine is a gen. 1.1 that I'll probably end up selling back after. Here is a good link for general info:

Mine was a Sportwagon that I leased. The lease was over in March. I got $3,600 for giving it back three and a half months early.

The biggest delay was from uploading all the paperwork to them accepting it in the online portal.

Once that happened, I had an appointment two weeks later.

I was at the dealer for a total of 15 minutes. No questions about any scratches or anything. Got the check in the mail a week later.

I turned mine in Tuesday & got my REAL CASH MONEY yesterday.

It was painless all around.

I've had 2 TDIs. 2011 Sportwagen, and a 2013 Passat. Both leases. Turned in the Passat TDI last February when the lease was up. Didn't think I'd get anything in the settlement since I didn't have the car anymore, but went through the website, turned in all the required docs and ended up with about $3300.

The lease turn in last year was more of a pain in the ass since they tried to get me for every little thing. Took some time but they finally waived all charges, including the lease turn in fee of $350.

The Sportwagen was eligible, but I wasn't since that one was turned in so long ago.

Really miss the mileage of the Passat. Almost 800 miles on a tank in the summer. Driving an Outback now though, and besides the mileage, it's a much better car.

As of 7 days ago they say they can fix mine and are not offering a buy back . 2013 model . They will offer cash and fix. WTF

OT, but is it a 4 or 6 cyl? My 4 is at 22MPG average over 7.5k miles so far. Maybe I should drive it nicer for a while and see what happens. What are you seeing?

My 2015 Forester 2.0T XT has averaged 24mpg over 40k miles with mostly hilly suburban driving. My wife's 2015 outback 2.5i has averaged about 28mpg over 45k with daily commute to Patterson from Hopatcong. I like the way her car handles sooo much better. Mine even with sport suspension leans a lot and the steering has a pretty lame on center feel. The engine is much louder in her car though. The 2.0xt engine with the CVT generally revs around 1500-2000rpm so you barely hear it.

I have only repaired 1 2015 a3 with
50k and was only a ECM reflash.
2015 already use adblue additive.
The car will also get a exhaust mod next year.
Most are taking the money.
I was told that there is only 1 other car that gets the repair in this area.

So is the Q7 getting the new turbo 6 for 2018, or sticking with the current motor? I drove one for a weekend and was very impressed.
