Any recommendations of sections of the river to hit with the family(7yr and 5yr olds) and a company to rent from? I would go as far as lower NY or any of the companies in PA.
I used them before we got our own raft. Quality outfit 10 years ago, maybe someone here has used them recently. The lower routes are pretty tame, but we've had good summer rain so I'd call for conditions.
Any recommendations for sections of the river to raft? I’d like something that safe for the kids but more interesting than just flat water paddling. Some rapids would be nice. I see that Kitatinny canoes offers a few different sections up by Port Jervis.
More rapids up past Port Jervis to Narrowsburg, hence the numerous water rescues every year. Though the UPDE is easily the most scenic portion.
The best option for a relaxing day is probably Milford beach or Dingmans down to either Smithfield Beach or the Gap.
Not really any options other than Kitatinny Canoes over here. Pocono Adventure Tours as well but they might not come as far north.
I have a canoe and 3 river tubes. If anyone would like to try a section of the south branch of the Raritan near the confluence, let me know. Multiple put ins. Water is slow most of the time
Anything from Reigelsville down to Lambertville is super slow and chill. Based on what you are looking for , I would avoid the companies that service that section of the river.
I will say that if you can borrow a canoe, the NPS offers a free River Runner Shuttle on the weekends, so you can park, shuttle to a north point, and flow down to your car. Multiple locations available from Milford to Smithfield.
