Cycles 54, RT 35, Wall

After my ride at Allaire today, I cruised into Belmar to get my usual post ride burrito at 10th Ave. Burrito. As I was eating, one of the kids in there asked me if that was my Mary, I said yes, and he told me of a new shop that had just opened in Wall. I thanked him and told him I would check it out.

On Rt. 35 south, just past the Circus drive in food place, is Cycles 54. A brand new store carrying Specialized, Felt and Kuoto. A very nice, almost artsy store, hardwood floors, nice lighting, nice little displays, shorts and shirts folded nicely on display racks. The sign outside should have given it away, it says "Cycles 54, road and triathalon specialists". That being said, I think I counted 9 mtb's on the floor, in a sea of road bikes. They did have the Felt ss 29er on display, which is a good sign.

Check them out if your in the area, should be interesting with Brielle Bikes just down the road, another big roadie shop.

The owner of Cycles 54 is Christian Young from Brielle Cycles. He was Brielle's general manager & fit specialist for many years. That makes it a little more interesting now doesn't it....

interesting indeed....

I found them when checking for Specialized dealers in my area. I didn't know they were there. I was in there a few days ago ordering a bottom bracket for my '97 Stumpjumper M2 Pro (buy high end kids, it'll always be high end). These cats are definately road junkies, they're also some serious techno geeks, they can talk parts down to the mm without checking a book in many cases. They seem to have done their research. While I think their knowledge may intimidate a first time buyer, once they weren't dealing with other customers, these guys will talk bikes with ya, and they didn't talk down to me for owning/ riding a '97 fully rigid bike, they just dig bikes and it showed. My parts came in pretty quick, 2-3 day turnaround, they had a solid handful of mtb's in there as well as a 29er and some SS's, also had a handful of fixed geared bikes and of course lots of road stuff. The place is a veritable drool fest for a bike enthusiast, and I sure as hell want to buy that fixed gear Bianchi that's sitting in there for like 7 hundred bones. I'd go back there anytime, and the atmosphere is that of a cycling museum. Cool clothes and jerseys in there too, definately worth checking the place out.

Thanks!

I gotta give props to the guys here. They were extremely helpful.
I showed up there looking for a derailleur hanger screw for my wife's bike. I noticed one was missing the other day when I was tuning her bike up. It must have fallen out on the trail !
Anyone ever try to find a 3mm screw at any store? :(
Anyway, They had the screws on hand and gave me 2 on the house!

Very nice looking shop. Respectable selection of MTB's too! :drooling:
I wish I could have taken a couple home with me!
Also a good deal of accessories. If you find yourself in the area, stop in and check it out!

Thanks for helping a brother out!....I'll be back!

I was actually in a shop today other than Halters, I think I was there for about 37 seconds. Honestly if the kid hadnt mentioned anything to me I probably wouldnt have known this place existed. Still a nice shop, I stopped in a few months ago to check it out again.

Great experience here, I just moved down to Toms River and this shop came up as a Felt dealer. As I really liked the Breed 20, but they are hard to come by. He had a Breed 30 on the floor and I made it mine. Looking forward to doing more business with these guys. Thanks.
