Can anyone recommend a good company/person for granite countertops near Lincoln Park? Not a huge job, ~36 sq ft. for a condo kitchen.

Bridgewater Marble & granite 732-560-1717 I have been using them for years never an issue . They go throughout the state .The store is located on chimney rock rd . If you call ask for ted

so you have your piece of rock picked out?

by installation, you mean measure, fabricate, install?
- i know, nothing is simple.

i used tico's in bridgewater - nice fella. Rojas.
he has a 6 week backlog....

Chris, we used marble.com, the one local to us was in South Plainfield. I just saw Ridgewood Park come across the screen, that sounds like a North Jersey area.

We paid a stack for our kitchen, they measured, installed, done. Was probably the easiest thing and most worth wild we did to our house. wood recco

No and yes. A place with a showroom or yard where we could pick something out would probably make life easier. We're in a rental condo and the landlord really wants to have it done but has asked us to make the arrangements. We aren't looking for anything special, something relatively plain and neutral.

I can pull off the old counters so yes, we'd really just need the install.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, keep them coming!

the only thing we had to do was remove the OG counters. the south plainfield had a plethora of options, i can only imagine that they are all like that.

EDIT: oh, and the oishi clan recommended them too, so its been double verified

Rental -> Home depot or lowes......

you need measure, fabrication, install - they will not cut it to your measurements, and i suspect there is a sink/faucet in it - they will need to know what type of sink, and faucet you are using beforehand. if there is a spray, if there is a built in soap....also, which edge treatment - some are included (1/4" round over) some aren't.

if you really want to go to a yard, have at it - some do the installation, others just want to ship the rock out to the fabricator (they do the m/f/i)

36fsqft isn't a small job - that is 18' of linear - which is a full 5x10 slab.

The Level 1 and Level 2 stone is the same everywhere. They are common enough that nothing at that price is "rare". From Lowes to the granite places. I found pricing at Lowes wasn't any cheaper. I did level 2 for $50 a square foot. $200 for template, $200 for sink mount. Choose any of like 7 edges. Other places were $60-$65 a square foot but included the sink mount. All in it was like $4200 for 53 square feet; which was two slabs of the stuff.

I heard good things about Bridgewater Granite but Flemington was cheaper and I knew a guy who helped with pricing. He did a nice job on this install but is flaky on scheduling; not good when you are living through it.

What Pearl said, obv. The warehouse was massive and there were tons of selections for every price point. We only paid $1,000 for our kitchen, if that means anything to you. That's with them measuring and installing. That's a no brainer

AO kept telling me it was super cheap, but I didn't believe her. Then I did the math and I was all "oh worrrrd?"

Fidodie- I'm really looking for this to be hands off and convenient for me as possible. Ideally I'd like to just pick out the color then schedule the install. If it were my place I'd care more but I'm not paying for it and I don't necessary agree with the landlord that its a smart purchase (the cabinets should be refinished if not replaced first IMO), but he thinks it will appeal to future renters. Regardless, the land lord is a good guy and we'll probably be here for a couple more years so I do want to make sure it gets done right.

Thanks again for the feedback all!

Why not just have Home Depot do it all then? I think that's what fidodie was trying to say unless I'm reading it wrong.

my parents used puglisie for all of their kitchen stuff, located in totowa right off rt 46

yes - HD for ease, and a neutral color -

if you are re-using the sink and faucet, they will figure it out when they measure. (for $100, see if the landlord will do a new sink) and maybe a faucet off the clearance rack.

forgot to mention the backsplash.....is there one there already?

the plumbing will change a couple inches too, but that is easy -

like i said, what seems "easy" takes some thought - the sales person should walk you through it in about an hour after picking the style. (hint, take a cabinet door with you to the store - or just wing it)

-----

the warehouse thing is fun - but time consuming, and like i said, they might only be a stone supplier - we used MSI in edison, and cosmic in NB for the stone, they delivered to ticos for fabrication, and install - it looks like this! maybe 10 or so isles....

Good to know there's a quality place nearby. Kitchen reno is somewhere on the horizon, along with a vacation house and retirement.

Marble.com is worth a quote via their web site. Service and work is very good, two time customer experience, all positive, results great.image.jpg

Marble.com is also fast. Just a few days turnaround. A past landlord went through Home Depot and it took a few weeks.

I have also used All Granite and Marble in Ridgefield Park. I did not know they are also referred to as marble.com or maybe they changed their name. Used twice - for kitchen island and then for master bathroom. Fast and great finishing and installations.
