Computer geeks?

I was refered to a site for free music downloads, as soon as the site loaded it requested acess from McAffee, I paniced and granted acess instead of blocking.

Now my computer is a mess, there are shortcuts to bogus virus scans on my desktop, the pop-ups are nonstop, and performance is slow. I've run adware, it identifies the problems but can't fix them; I've also gone into add/remove programs, but cant find the virus in there.

What should I do? I might just bring my PC to the computer repair guy in town, unless anyone knows a quick fix to my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A lot of porn has Viruses, so I never use my own computer for porn. Only at work or when I'm visiting my Mom.

I have a question too!

I cant just recall what model my motherboard is. But i would like to know if I have a pci express on my mobo. I know its simple enough to open it up but is there any other way? Im looking to upgrade my vid card and pci express seems the way to go. my ti 4600 is a bit old.

it was porn wasn't it...

I would have disclosed that fact, it was mininova.org; I've heard of a shit load of people not having a problem there, but I did, now the computer is at the shop. The virus was so f-ed I couldnt even acess the internet to get downloads to repair it. It was the the "You have a virus - Click OK to clean" virus, kudos to the asshole that thought that one up!!

Control panel, system, hardware manager... look under display adapter/ properties of. It'll tell you where it's location is. i.e.: PCI, AGP, PCI-e. If not there you can check under system devices also in hardware/device manager.

oh man...

one of my employees did the same thing last year. the error above sounds identical. its was tricky. i was impatient. so i formatted his hard drive and banished the f'er to Ubuntu for a year (thats a linux os). he's been complaining ever since.

anyway, i use AVG Anti-Spyware. Here's the free one:

I'd try that if you're still in hell.

all the bull$hit virus crap out there, I have four windows systems here and on all of them I run AVG for the virus and spybot for the adware.
these two seem to catch alot fo adware/spyware stuff my brother had sandboxer on his system it took me almost 4 hours to remove it and about 20 reboots into safe mode i sure do feel your pain.
you could run linux I run it on my main system and I get nothing bad.....
